MemoryPlugin is a hosted AI memory service, made by Crestify Solutions, that keeps a single memory on its own servers and brings it into ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini and 21+ AI tools through a browser extension, a Custom GPT, a hosted MCP server and an API. Plans cost $89 or $180 a year. Vodou is the local alternative compared here.

MemoryPlugin's extension runs in Chromium browsers and in Safari on Mac, iPhone and iPad, with Android covered through the Quetta browser. How it works

How do you move from MemoryPlugin to Vodou?

Vodou has no one-click MemoryPlugin importer, so the move has four parts: install Vodou and Vodou Bridge, re-import chat history from ChatGPT's and Claude's own export files, bring your saved MemoryPlugin memories in as Markdown with vodou-core mem import, then check what Vodou learned before you cancel.

STEP 1
Install Vodou and Vodou Bridge.
Download Vodou for macOS, Windows or Linux and sign in with a free account, then add Vodou Bridge from the Chrome Web Store. Turn on Save my chats and every new conversation on the 22 supported AI sites is captured into your local memory from then on.
STEP 2
Re-import chat history from ChatGPT and Claude.
MemoryPlugin builds its chat history from ChatGPT and Claude export files, so go back to the originals: request a data export in ChatGPT and in Claude, then run vodou-core mem import chatgpt <export.zip> and vodou-core mem import claude <export.zip>. Add --dry-run first to preview counts. Claude's export includes its own memory file, which is imported too.
STEP 3
Bring saved memories in as Markdown.
Export or copy your memories from the MemoryPlugin dashboard (MemoryPlugin says they are yours to export anytime; the bulk format isn't publicly documented) and save them as .md files in one folder. Run vodou-core mem import obsidian <folder>: the importer reads any folder of Markdown, sanitizes it, and labels each fact as imported so it ranks below what you tell Vodou yourself.
STEP 4
Check, correct, then decide.
Open the Vodou Console, search for facts you rely on, correct or reject anything wrong, and press Ctrl+B in ChatGPT or Claude to see exactly what gets typed in. An import can be rolled back with vodou-core mem import-undo. When Vodou has what you need, cancel MemoryPlugin and delete your data there if you want it gone.
